Mohammad Shakhawat Hossain, Bangladesh’s Assistant High Commissioner in Agartala, has confirmed that celebrations for the country’s Victory Day will be held in the Indian state on December 16.
When outlining details of the program, Shakhawat said the day will begin by raising the national flag in the morning followed by placing wreaths on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s portrait. There will also be public addresses from the Bangladesh prime minister, president, foreign minister and state minister for foreign affairs.
He added that a cultural program will be held at the Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhaban, where artists from Tripura will participate.
“The occasion will also be graced by Bangladesh’s Health Minister Mohammad Nasim and Tripura’s Chief Minister Manik Sarkar,” the Assistant High Commissioner further said.
Moreover, the Bharat-Bangla Maitree Udyan at Chottakhola will be inaugurated on the day, in remembrance of those who fought in the Liberation War of Bangladesh.
