An airship from Malaysia, containing humanitarian aid for the Rohingya refugees, has arrived in Chittagong.
The plane carrying 12 tons of relief items landed at Shah Amanat International Airport at 4:30pm on Saturday, said Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Chittagong Md Zillur Rahaman Chowdhury.
He formally received the aid, which will be sent to Cox’s Bazar as soon as possible, on behalf of the government.
He said the 14 different relief items include rice, water purifying tablets, milk powder, dates, towels, and shampoo.

Over 270,000 Rohingya refugees have fled Myanmar for Bangladesh since August 25, after insurgent attacks on security outposts triggered a renewed military crackdown in Rakhine state.
Security officials are having difficulty containing refugees at the designated locations in Kutupalong, Leda, Balukhali and Shamlapur of Cox’s Bazar, as the massive influx of Rohingyas from Myanmar is leading the dedicated camps to overflow.
