1 Boston bombing suspect dead

Update : 19 Apr 2013, 09:45 AM

One of the two suspects of the Boston Marathon explosions was killed early Friday morning.

The other suspect, who is being referred to as the “white hat suspect,” remained at large until this report was written, as Reuters reported.

The suspects were also linked to the Thursday night shooting of a university police officer on campus at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Investigators released pictures and video of two suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing on Thursday, enlisting the public's help in identifying two men in the crowd who were wearing backpacks and baseball caps minutes before bombs exploded near the finish line.

Shortly after the MIT shooting, police descended on neighboring Boston suburb Watertown, amid reports of gunfire and explosions, touching off a manhunt in a community on edge just days after the Boston Marathon bombing. Neighbors reported hearing several gunshots and explosions.

Live video of Watertown showed police officers with weapons drawn, and people wearing Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) jackets. Boston police called the situation an “active incident,” and urged residents to remain inside.

The explosions at the Boston marathon killed three people and wounded 176 on Monday, and is still being investigated.
