Dr Mahathir Mohamad, currently admitted to the National Heart Institute in Malaysia with a chest infection, is recovering.
A statement released by the institute, it said the Dr Mahathir was being treated in the general ward following a bad bout of cough, reports The Straits Times.
His daughter, Marina Mahathir, tweeted a picture of her visiting him at the medical institute and sitting on a couch, smiling.
The former Malaysian prime minister, now the opposition leader, was supposed to be at a program scheduled for February 10, but cancelled his appearance following doctor’s advice.
Well wishers took to Facebook to wish him a speedy recovery and some even urged Dr Mahathir to take time off to relax and recharge before heading back into politics.
