A suspected robber has been beaten to death by an angry mob in the Bagharpara area of Jashore district.
The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained yet.
Khejuria police camp in-charge, Sub-Inspector (SI) Masudur Rahman, said: “A group of robbers swooped on the house of one Monsur Ali of Majhali village early Thursday.
“The robbers hit Monsur and his wife Hajera Begum on the head during the robbery.”
The SI said: “Hearing the screams of family members, neighbours went to the spot and beat up the robber, killing him on the spot.”
He said the other robbers managed to flee the scene.
Later, the body was sent to Jessore General Hospital.
SI Masudur said a knife and an iron rod were recovered from the spot.
