2nd ISSF International Solidarity Archery: Ruman, Roksana shine bright on opening day
Mohammad Ruman Shana and Roksana Akter ranked top in the qualification round of their respective events at the 2nd ISSF International Solidarity Archery Championship that began at Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium in Dhaka Sunday. Ruman scored a total of 666 points in the recurve men's qualification round while Roksana scored 676 in the compound women’s event. Archery coach Mohammad Ziaul Hoque informed that the scores of Ruman and Roksana are improvements from the South Asian Archery Championship that was held at BKSP in Savar two months ago. Mohammad Tamimul Islam also improved his score and was ranked third with 647 to sit a place behind Binali Abdalelah of Saudi Arabia (652) while Ibrahim Sheik Rezowan (620) and Sojeb Sheik (619) were placed 10th and 11th respectively. Bonna Aktar, Ritu Akter and Suma Biswas were placed from fourth to sixth with 659, 652 and 635 respectively in the compound women’s qualification round. The total score of Bangladesh compound women's team, comprising Roksana, Bonna and Ritu, in QF also put them directly in the gold-medal deciding match as there are only two more teams, Nepal and Morocco, contesting in the event.
