Bangladesh shooters Abdullah Hel Baki and Shakil Ahmed were felicitated in a victory rally Tuesday after their silver medal winning displays at the recently concluded Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.
The victory rally started in Hatirjheel and ended at the Bangladesh Shooting Federation office in Gulshan.
Baki clinched silver in the 10m air rifle event while Shakil bagged silver in the 50m pistol category.
The Bangladesh shooting contingent returned home Monday night.
During the victory rally, Shakil said, "Nothing can be compared to this. We are sharing our happiness with the whole country. We have proved to everyone that we too can do it. We are elated to be present here. We would like to thank the shooting federation for organising this victory rally."
Meanwhile, Baki said, "Somehow I noticed the score of my opponent prior to the final shot. Otherwise the story could have been different! Ever since I started my shooting career, I dreamt of standing in the podium at the Olympics. My main target now is to prepare myself for the Olympics. The key behind performing well is to play all the time. If we play in more big events throughout the year, then we all can fulfill our dream."
