Saif Power Battery has become the title sponsor of the much-awaited Bangladesh Premier Football League 2016-17 season.
The logo unveiling ceremony was held at BFF House on Tuesday, only three days before kick-off.
There is also a change in the logo with the addition of more names of the sponsors.
With the word “BPL” centred in the logo that is full of letters, the name of the title sponsor is placed at the top of BPL, “Powered by Saif Power LED” features at the left bottom while the name of “Saif Global Sports Ltd” remains at the right bottom.

Although the names in the logo increased, the value of sponsorship has decreased to Tk 1.5 crores[/caption]
Three names of the sponsor never appeared in the logo of the last nine editions, since the professional football league began its journey in 2007.
After holding the first edition with no title sponsor, Citycell (twice), Nitol Tata (twice), Grameenphone (thrice) and Manyavar sponsored the country’s top flight till 2014-15.
Saif Powertec came up with the sponsorship deal with the BFF before the previous edition and it was through their hands that JB Group bought the title rights for Tk four crores.
Although the names in the logo increased, the value of sponsorship has decreased to Tk 1.5 crores.
The federation talked about different reasons for the reduction in sponsorship money, including a decrease in match venues as the upcoming league will be held at only two venues – Dhaka’s Bangabandhu National Stadium and Chittagong’s MA Aziz Stadium – compared to last year’s five.
There will be two new teams in the league with Old Dhaka outfit Farashganj Sporting Club and newcomer Saif Sporting Club.
Saif Sporting were formed only last year and are owned by the mother company of the title sponsor.
“All the teams will be under the scanner. No team will get any advantage or fall short of their eligible rights,” said BFF senior vice-president and professional league committee chairman Abdus Salam Murshedy during the ceremony.
Director of Saif Global Sports, Tarafdar Mohammad Ruhul Saif was also present on the occasion. Bangla TV, a new satellite channel, was also introduced as the media partner and will telecast the matches live.
