Most of Bangladesh will likely see more rainfall in the coming 24 hours as the monsoon is active over the country, the Met Office says. Many places in Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Rajshahi divisions may record light to moderate rain or thunder showers with temporary gusty winds, the Met Office said in its 24-hour forecast, starting 9am Wednesday. Some places in Rangpur, Sylhet and Mymensingh divisions may witness similar rainfall.

Other places in the country may get moderately heavy to very heavy showers. But there are chances that rainfall will decrease over the next 72 hours while the day and night temperature may rise by 1-2°C.

Dhaka recorded 30mm rainfall in the last 24 hours but Teknaf recorded the day's highest 78mm. Poor drainage systems in Dhaka and Chittagong add to the people's sufferings as some of the streets are often flooded during rains, leading to huge traffic congestion.
