36th National Rabindra Sangeet Conference commences

The three-day long event, which is taking place at the Shawkat Osman auditorium of the National Public Library, consists of discussions, renditions of Tagore songs, recitations from Tagore’s poetry and celebrating eminent personalities. With the theme “Mritture Koribe Tuccho Praner Utsaho” (The fortitude of life will make death trivial), the program was inaugurated by prominent artist Rafiqun Nabi on Friday. The inauguration was followed by the final round of the teenagers’ section of an art competition. A music session is scheduled to happen every evening, throughout the festival. Laisa Ahmad, general secretary of the National Rabindra Sangeet Council said, “The general round of the art competition of children and teenagers have been taking place for the last few days. A total of 500 competitors from different districts of the country have participated in the competition. The final round is starting today. Furthermore, around 500 cultural activists from different corners of the country are going to join the conference. There will be seminars and sessions with distinguished personalities in addition to singing and recitations.” Famous tabla player, Madan Gopal Das and Potchitra artist, Shambhu Acharya will be awarded the prestigious Rabindrapadak in the conference for their significant contribution in their respective fields. Professor Emeritus Serajul Islam Choudhury will be present as the chief guest of the session.
