Update : 03 Dec 2016, 05:02 PM
The 3rd of December happens to be the birthday of very well known actors in Hollywood. Just like any other birthday weekend for actors, we’re celebrating by putting together some must-watch movies from their well-established careers.Brendan FraserEncino Man (1992)Fraser popped into the scene in Hollywood named Link, a frozen caveman who is discovered by two best friends in their backyard. The film also stars Sean Astin, who we all know from very popular movies of his youth, like The Goonies and Rudy. Comedian Pauly Shore also stars in this quintessential, Southern Californian lifestyle of high schoolers in the early 90s. The Mummy (1999)Best known for the character of Rick O’Connell, Fraser put in a convincing performance as a, back then, modern-day Indiana Jones, surrounding the elements of Ancient Egypt. The Mummy franchise went on with very attractive sequels but never managed to capture the charm and entertainment of this ’99 version. However, a recent reboot of the “monster franchise” has been kick-started by Universal, starring Tom Cruise instead of Fraser. The new film is very different from what we’ve seen from Fraser’s version.Crash (2004) Fraser was part of an ensemble cast that controversially won the Academy Award for Best Film, beating out the favourite Brokeback Mountain. The film went down in history as the second film ever to have won the Oscar without being nominated in the Golden Globe Awards for Best Motion Picture. The film is was written and directed by Paul Haggis. Julianne MooreHannibal (2001)Julianne Moore has had an impressive list of films she has been in, both critically acclaimed and those that have made quite a dent in the box office. With that said, we’ll add the films that she is prominent in and most well known for. The crime/thriller Hannibal was a sequel to Silence of the Lambs, starring Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster. However this time around, the latter has been replaced by Moore as the main protagonist FBI agent Clarice Starling. The film may not have been as good as the first, but it retained the psychological horror and showed that Moore could hold her own against the legendary Hopkins. The Hours (2002)A little bit of a slow burn, this film was a hit with most critics, earning nine Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture and a win for Nicole Kidman as Best Actress. The British-American drama stars Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, and of course, Julianne Moore. This is a story, taken from the novel Mrs Dalloway, about three generations of women who have to deal with suicide in their lives. Kidman plays as Virginia Woolf in 1923, Moore as Laura Brown in 1951 and Meryl Streep as Clarissa Vaughan. Still Alice (2014)One of the most recent outings for Moore, the actress plays a linguistics professor who is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. This was possibly the most brilliant performance Moore has ever displayed on film. Even more impressive is that this is an independent film that was based on the 2007 bestselling novel of the same name. Take things even higher, and you will know that Moore took home the Best Actress award at the Academy Awards, BAFTA and the Golden Globe Awards. Alec Baldwin plays her husband, while Kristen Stewart, Kate Bosworth and Hunter Parrish play her children.
