Landing Darboe continued to carry Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in the Bangladesh Premier League as his second-half strike earned the reigning champions a 2-1 win against bottom-placed Feni Soccer Club at MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong on Tuesday.
After the first half ended 1-1, the Gambian midfielder netted a brilliant goal in the 76th minute. Landing had also scored Dhanmondi Club's only goal against rising powerhouse Chittagong Abahani in their previous match.
Landing had a hand in his side's equaliser at the stroke of the first half when Nigerian striker Emeka Darlington placed home a cutback from the tall attacker.
Earlier, Feni began the game positively and went ahead in the 25th minute through a goal from Mahbubul Islam Himu.
The victory helped Sheikh Jamal catch second-placed Chittagong Abahani in the points table. The holders remained third due to an inferior goal-difference. Sheikh Jamal have 28 points from 16 matches while Feni are still mired at the bottom of the table with only 10 points.
Meanwhile in the day's other match at the same venue, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra continued their inconsistent run as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Team BJMC.
Following a barren opening half, Jean Jules Ikanga put Sheikh Russel ahead in the 72nd minute before in-form Nigerian midfielder Samson Iliasu netted a late equaliser three minutes before the end of stipulated time.
Both Sheikh Russel and BJMC have the same number of points after their 16th match, but due to goal-difference, the former are ninth while the latter are a place ahead at eighth.
