Police have arrested a man for allegedly killing his wife at their home in the capital on July 19.
Salahuddin alias Salamin, 27, who had been on run, was arrested from Badarpur area under Faridpur Sadar upazila on Monday afternoon, SI Anuj Kumar Sarkar of Shah Ali police station told the Dhaka Tribune.
Anju, the investigation officer of the murder case, said: “We have arrested the suspect after tracing his location through his mobile phone. The law enforcers will conduct more raids for other suspects after gleaning information from the arrestee.”
Salamin allegedly stabbed his wife Sanjida Akhter, 25, to death at their rented house in the capital's Mirpur 1 area on July 19.
Some of their neighbours told the police that they have seen Salamin fleeing the scene immediately after the incident happened.
Sanjida, who tied the knot barely six months ago, succumbed to her wounds several hours after being taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Sanjida's family lodged a murder case with Shah Ali police the next day.
