BNP will hold its standing committee meeting tonight to finalise who will be the party's secretary general and also finalise the job responsibility of the party's senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman.
Party sources said the meeting will also finalise what would be the length of the central committee as there might be some changes in the organisational structures.
A senior leader seeking anonymity told the Dhaka Tribune that party's acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam will be the secretary general and the decision will be finalised Thursday night as the decision should have to be approved on the council day.
The party is scheduled to hold its national council on March 19 at Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh in Dhaka. Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman have already elected uncontested as chairperson and senior vice chairman respectively.
Another standing committee member wishing not to be named said there would be some changes in the party's organisational structures.
He said posts could be increased in organising secretaries, joint secretary generals and some secretaries.
The BNP leader also said advisory council of the party might be reshuffled.
Syrul Kabir Khan, an official of BNP chairperson's media wing, said some important and crucial decisions will be made in today [Thursday]'s standing committee meeting.
He said the meeting will start at 8:30pm at chairperson's Gulshan office with Khaleda Zia in the chair.
