Bangladesh Bank Governor Atiur Rahman has said he is prepared to resign from his post.

He made the statement while talking to the reporters at his residence in Dhaka on Tuesday morning.

He said: “I am prepared to resign. I need to meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

“I am just waiting for her orders.”

He also said: "If I have made any mistake, I apologies to the people of the nation."

The governor also said he has not yet got an appointment to meet the prime minister.

Later, he left for the Prime Minister's Office after talking to the reporters.

On the other hand, Finance Minister AMA Muhith is scheduled to hold a press conference regarding the hacking of Bangladesh Bank's reserve fund around 2:30pm.

On February 4, hackers stole more than $80 million from Bangladesh Bank’s account with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and wired it to bank accounts in the Philippines.
