Inflation has eased further to 5.62% in February from 6.07% in January, according to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) data released on Tuesday.
During the period, food inflation moved down to 3.77% from 4.33% and non-food inflation declined to 8.46% from 8.78%.
Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal released the monthly inflation data at a press briefing after the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) meeting at the NEC conference room in the capital’s Agargaon.
In the meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Ecnec approved 16 development projects worth more than Tk16,887 crore.
Of the total cost, the government will provide over Tk14,041 crore from the public exchequer while Tk2,250 crore will come from development partners and over Tk596 crore from the public agencies concerned.
