A Dhaka court has ordered a judicial inquiry into the case filed against Adabar police station Sub-Inspector Ratan Kumar for allegedly sexually harassing a female student of Asha University.
Dhaka Women and Children Repression Tribunal 4 Judge Saleh Uddin Ahmed gave the order after recording the deposition of the petitioner on Monday afternoon.
The second semester student of the university's English Department filed the case with the tribunal.
Earlier in the day, DMP's Tejgaon Division Deputy Commissioner Biplob Kumar Sarkar suspended SI Ratan over the matter.
Besides, two separate probe teams were formed and asked to submit reports regarding the matter within three working days.
Rejecting the allegations, SI Ratan told the Dhaka Tribune: "I know her from a long time. She did it because of personal vengeances as I investigated an arson case filed against her husband, who was a Jubo Dal member."
