Five people of a family have received burn injuries in a fire that broke out due to the blast inside a septic tank at a house in Dakkhin Khan area in Dhaka.
The injured are Rumana Akhter, 30, wife of Mantu Miah, their daughter Monika Akhter, 8, Rumana’s brother Imran Hossain, 28, his wife Jannatul, 20, and their daughter Tasmia, 2.
Mantu Miah said: “Me and my brother-in-law's family are living in a one-storey building in Fayedabad intersection area.
“The septic tank exploded and caught fire after I left for work around 7:30am Tuesday. Locals took the injured to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.”
Later, two units from the fire service went to the spot but the blaze had been doused off before their arrival.
Dakkhin Khan OC Lutfur Rahman confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune.
Quoting the doctors, DMCH police camp ASI Sentu Chondro Das said Ruman received 60% burn injuries, Monika, 20%, Imran 10%, Tasmia 10% and Jannatul received 8% burn injuries in the incident.
