Le Méridien Dhaka hosts female recruitment day

City's newest upscale hotel actively encourages gender diversity by holding open house recruitment for aspiring women of BangladeshWhere others have trotted or marched, since its soft opening five months ago, Le Méridien Dhaka has leaped legions. Even as the hotel prepares to introduce all its facilities into full operation this month, it held its first ever “Female Recruitment Day” to allow aspiring young women of Bangladesh an opportunity to advance in their career. The event was hosted at the Grand Ball Room of Le Méridien Dhaka on Saturday, November 7.

Without a doubt, the hospitality and tourism industry of Bangladesh is growing at an exponential rate, and Le Méridien Dhaka, an emerging pillar of the industry, aimed to use this informal platform to engage with young fresh minds of the nation's female workforce and harness their talent to not only increment the hotel's human capital but also propel the hospitality sector into a progressive and dynamic forcefield. Our aim is to creating a pipeline with a mission to introduce a lady leader in the hospitality industry.

Ashwani Nayar, the general manager of Le Méridien Dhaka, revealed that they look forward to ensuring at least 30% are female employees, not only to drive diversity but also because women make for very dedicated workers. “In fact, women make ideal candidates for any service industry and we truly feel with the Bangladesh hospitality sector being on the fast forward route to the next generation, now is the right time for women of Bangladesh to claim a career as hoteliers as their own.”

An overwhelming response was received by more than 200 interested candidates who participated in the day's activities. Participating candidates sat through a seminar in which they were introduced to the organisational culture of Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide and to understand the brand value of Le Méridien that heightens such a culture. A meet and greet session with various department managers allowed candidates to understand what is expected to be accomplished by each vacancy that is to be filled. Initial screening interviews also took place throughout the day to select potential candidates to fill current vacancies at Le Méridien Dhaka.
