Update : 14 Nov 2015, 11:08 AM

Milatant group Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the deadliest attacks in Paris after the World War II that killed over 120 people, BBC reported.

IS said "eight brothers wearing explosive belts and carrying assault rifles" conducted a "blessed attack on...Crusader France."

The group said its fighters carried out the attacks in various locations in the heart of the capital, which were carefully studied.

Earlier, French president Francois Hollande blamed the Islamic State group for the attacks in Paris that left 127 people dead.

The multiple attacks across the French capital late Friday were "an act of war...committed by a terrorist army, the Islamic State, against France, against...what we are, a free country," Hollande said.

The attacks had been planned and organised from abroad with help from inside France, he added.

France has declared a national state of emergency and tightened borders after the attacks on six places.
