Update : 07 Sep 2015, 10:31 AM

A Dhaka court has directed police to submit its report on October 12 about the allegation against cricketer Shahdat Hossain and his wife of torturing their 11-year-old housemaid.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Waiyes Kurini Khan Chowdhury passed the order on Monday after accepting the case filed against the cricketer and his wife.

General Recording Officer (GRO) of the court Md Nabi Hossain said this to the Dhaka Tribune.

On Sunday night, Mirpur police Inspector (investigation) Shafiqur Rahman told the Dhaka Tribune that journalist Khandkar Mozzamel Haque had found the injured girl, who told him she had been tortured by the cricketer and his wife, in Pallabi Journalist Colony.

Mozzamel then took her to Pallabi police station.

Pallabi police directed the journalist to Mirpur police station because the alleged abuse took place in their jurisdiction.

Later, a case was filed with Mirpur police and the girl was sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) One-Stop Crisis Centre for treatment.
