The High Court has rejected two petitions filed by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia seeking court's directives to state for submitting documents of Barapukuria coal mine graft case.
The bench of Justice Md Nuruzzaman and Justice Abdur Rob passed the order on Sunday afternoon.
Khaleda's lawyer filed the petition on August 18. The court fixed August 23 for passing an order on the pleas.
In 2008, the High Court stayed the case proceedings, and in a ruling asked the government and the Anti-Corruption Commission to explain why the case should not be dropped.
The court had extended the stay order on the case several times in the past. The latest six-month extension was ordered on April 10.
The ACC on February 26, 2008, filed the case with Shahbagh police station, accusing Khaleda and 10 of her former cabinet colleagues of taking Tk159 crore in kickbacks on the Barapukuria coalmine deal awarded to the highest bidder, instead of the lowest one.
