Producing a below-par performance, former champions Sheikh Russel were left frustrated with a 2-2 draw against relegation battlers Farashganj in the Manyavar Bangladesh Premier League at Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday.
National forward Jahid Hasan Ameli and Cameroonian striker Paul Emile put Sheikh Russel 2-0 ahead but Shahanur Rahman and later Shankar Das equalised for Farashganj to deny the Blues from taking home the three points.
Sheikh Russel are fifth in the 11-team standings with 13 points from seven matches while Farashganj are second bottom with three points from the same number of games.
Meanwhile in the day’s other match at the same venue, Feni Soccer Club posted a crucial 2-1 victory over Chittagong Abahani to move to eighth position in the standings. Soccer Club have eight points from seven matches while the port-city outfit are a place behind in ninth with four points from the same number of games.
Mohammad Hanif gave Chittagong Abahani the lead but Sohel Mia soon brought parity for Soccer Club. Mohammad Zahirul Islam grabbed the winner for the Feni outfit.
