Finance Minister AMA Muhit, inaugurated the 2nd Dhaka International film festival at Nandan Mancha on March 12. The event, which last took place in 2011, saw the likes of Asaduzzaman Noor, Ramendu Majumdar, Liaquat Ali Lucky, Debaprossad Debnath addressing the audience this year. The festival is organised by International Threatre Institute, Bangladesh Centre, in association with Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
The 10-day long festival features plays by troupes from India, China and Bangladesh, a daily portrait exhibition of world famous theatre icons at the National Theatre Hall’s lobby, and two dance dramas from China and Bangladesh. Some notable plays which you can still catch are Spartacus by Shopnodol on March 19, Draupadi by Kolakhetro Manipur, Golpo niye golpo o usha utsob by Dhaka Theatre on March 20, and Jamuna by Theatre Folks and Lady Macbeth by Arshi Theatre on March 21.
