Malaysian shuttler Lim Chi Wing and Neslihan Yigit of Turkey became the champions of the men’s and women’s singles respectively in the Yonex-Sunrise Bangladesh Open International Badminton Challenge at Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium in Mirpur yesterday.
Lim Chi Wing earned a comfortable victory of 21-12, 21-17 over Subhankar Dey of India to clinch the title in the men’s section while Neslihan outplayed Rui Chen Yap of Malaysia by 21-18, 21-12 points in the women’s singles final.
Meanwhile the dominance of the Malaysians continued after they confirmed an all-Malay final in the men’s doubles and mixed doubles events. Low Juan Shen and Yew Sin Ong came from behind to beat their compatriot Darren Isaac Devadass and Tai An Khang by 19-21, 21-8, 21-13 points in the men’s doubles.
In the mixed doubles, Chee Tean Tan and Shevon Jemie teamed up to defeat Wee Gieen and Yen Wei by 21-17, 21-18 to lift the title. Meanwhile in the women’s doubles, Indian pair Praynya Gadre and Siki Reddy beat Ozge Bayrak and Neslihan Yigit of Turkey by 21-10, 22-24, 21-16.
