Two women killed in road accident in Chittagong, four injured

Two women were killed and fours others injured after a covered van collided head-on with two CNG-run autorickshaws on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in the district’s Mirsari upazila yesterday

The dead were Rina Jhol Dash, 35, and Tasunnesa, 65, Sub-Inspector Md Mustafiz of Mirsarai police station said.

Quoting locals, the SI said the accident had occurred near Sufia Road area of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway under Mirsarai municipality area around 5am, leaving two women dead on the spot and four others injured.

Being informed, police went to the spot and seized the covered van. The injured were sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) and other local hospitals, said the SI.

Nayek Shilbrata Barua of CMCH Police Outpost said two injured - Mohiuddin, 35 and Alam, 50, - were admitted to CMCH’s causality ward.

SI Mustafiz said the driver and the helper fled the scene soon after the incident. A case will soon be filed with the station, he added.
