Workers of a garment factory in the capital have taken position in front of the National Press Club demanding their dues of four months.

The sit-in programme organised by Jago Bangladesh Garment Workers Federation, started around 11am and will continue till 3pm.

The agitating workers of Common Thread Ltd, a sister concern of Harvest Group, alleged that the factory authorities had announced two days leave for Shab-e-Barat in June. But when they went to join office after the two days leave, they found a notice declaring the factory shut due to lack of work order.

The workers also demanded to reopen the factory immediately.

"We did not join elsewhere as the factory authorities have been assuring us to reopen it," one of the workers at the sit-in said.

They were also chanting slogans in favour of their demands at the programme.
