Death toll rises to 2 in Gulshan AC blast

One more victim among the three, who were critically burnt in an air conditioner blast at a hotel in the capital’s Gulshan area, died at the burn unit of the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) yesterday.

Sohel Rana, 27, an assistant manager (service) Wattson Group, and son of Hafizur Rahman Akkhelpur of Joydebpur, died after fighting for life for the last six days at the burn unit. 

On November 7, the blast took place around 3:00pm when Sohel and the group’s technician Anwar Hossain were engaged in repairing the air conditioner on the 16th floor of “Six Seasons Hotel” in the Gulshan-2 area.

Anwar Hossain, 35, died on spot.

With around 62% burn injuries, Sohel was being treated at the hospital. 

The hotel’s staff member Kartik,40, was also injured in the incident.

Kartik who suffered 45% burn injuries, is under treatment at the same hospital, said Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Gulshan Police Station.
