Terming Jamaat-e-Islami “evil forces and enemy of humanity,” Awami League General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam has said they are involved in war against humanity worldwide using different names.
“Their name here [in Bangladesh] is Jamaat. Somewhere they are known as al-Qaeda, Taliban and IS. They have declared a global war in different names. We are not far from the war too,” he said, adding that now no one in the world was safe from Jamaat.
The ruling party spokesperson made the remarks while addressing a DVD launching ceremony at the National Press Club.
The digital video disc titled “BNP-Jamaat's Violence: Bloodstained Bangladesh” was launched by Awami League's publicity cell. Earlier, AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had unveiled a photo album on BNP-Jamaat violence.
Journalist Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul, women's rights activist Rokeya Kabir, lawyer SM Rejaul Karim and barrister Turin Afroze also addressed the programme with AL Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud in the chair.
Urging the countrymen to resist the evil forces, Syed Ashraf said: “We have already started the battle against them and we have to win the war.”
Referring to crimes against humanity committed by Jamaat, the AL leader said they had not had the chance to see the atrocities committed by Hitler, but they had seen the atrocities committed by Jamaat in 1971.
He claimed that although someone tried to show them as neutral, no one in the country was neutral.
