Awami League acting president Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury expressed her anger over scheduling different programmes by two associated bodies of the party at the same time and at same place yesterday.
The leader also termed party’s Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud “contumacious” as he was addressing the other meeting during her speech.
Two party associated bodies, Awami Swechhasebok League and Motor League, organised different rallies at Dhanmondi 32 in the capital on the occasion of 68th birthday of Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The Swechhashebok League organised their programme in front of the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman while Motor Sromik League about 100 feet east of the portrait.
During her address as the chief guest Sajeda was repeatedly interrupted by the deafening sound of loudspeakers coming from the programme where Dr Hasan Mahmud was addressing the crowd.
Sajeda Chowdhury said: “I have never seen counter programmes organised here (Dhanmondi 32) in the fashion of Jamaat and I do not expect to see it now.”
Sajeda Chowdhury termed Dr Hasan Mahmud, who was addressing the other rally, “contumacious” and said after emerging as new leaders of the party they have started misbehaving.
“I have not seen such boastfulness in my political career. It is an ultimate example of misbehaviour and I will not tolerate it,” the leader said adding that “I tell him to restrain himself.”
