Transport owners and workers of the district have called an indefinite strike on Rangamati-Chittagong road from Wednesday, demanding the arrest of the attackers of six bus drivers.
Rangamati Road and Waterway Transport Owners-Workers’ Unity Council announced the strike at a press conference at the office of Rangamati-Chittagong Motor Owners’ Association in the town yesterday, reports UNB.
Meanwhile, the Rangamati District Bus Workers’ Union has suspended bus operations on the Rangamati-Chittagong road in protest against the assault on six bus drivers on Monday.
On Monday night, the six bus drivers were beaten up by miscreants following a brawl between the transport workers and local shopkeepers at Old Bus Station area in the town.
A case has been filed with Kotwali police station in this connection. Police have already arrested two suspects – Hafizul and Monzu.
