Update : 25 Aug 2014, 07:30 PM

At least three police personnel and four security guards were injured in the alleged attack of transport workers at Rajshahi rail station yesterday morning.

Police also fired three rounds of blank shots to disperse the crowd.

Sources at Government Railway Police said a group of transport workers led by Ramjan Mia, a resident of Shiroil area, were consuming mirajuana on the railway platform.

Then, railway security guards told them to stop smoking mirajuana there and forced them to leave.

In retaliation, a group of transport workers numbering 30-40 rushed to the railway station area yesterday morning and started vandilising the main gate of the station.

On information, police rushed to spot, but the workers assaulted Sub-Inspector Sahabul, Sub-Inspector Hashem, constable Badsha Mia and four security guards, ensuing a clash between them. During the clash chase and counter chase took places that created panic among passengers.

Then, police started firing blank shots and the workers left the place.

Officer-in-Charge of GRP police station said they were taking preparation to file a case in this connection.

Additional  police have been deployed in and around the railway station to avoid any untoward incident. No case was filed in this connection.
