JU suspends 16 BCL activists over clash

The authorities of Jahangirnagar University have suspended 16 activists of Chhatra League over a factional clash that left 10 people injured on Thursday.

Assistant Proctor Mehdi Iqbal told the Dhaka Tribune: “University Syndicate committee took the decision in a meeting on Thursday night, as per the recommendation of the disciplinary committee.”

An investigation committee has been formed to probe the incident. Students' Welfare and Advisory Centre Director Prof Rasheda Akhter will be leading the committee, said the assistant proctor.

“The probe committee has been asked to submit its report within seven days. We will file cases against those who are found involved with the vandalism acts in the report,” he added.

At least 10 people were injured in a clash between two groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of Maulana Bhashani Hall unit of Jahangirnagar University over establishing supremacy on the campus on Thursday.
