'I prefer working with new talents'

Update : 07 Aug 2014, 06:42 PM

Filmstar Amin Khan, who maintained his position in the industry for over two decades is now a popular face for the TV audience as well. Starting his career by winning a talent hunt programme of the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation, he never had to look back and gave the industry an array of hits. When he tried his hand at acting on the small screen in a TV play in 1994, he was immediately welcomed by the viewers. Amin Khan's teleflm “Jamai Dhora” will be aired today at 12am on Maasranga TV. Here, the actor will portray the role of an expatriate who returns home to get married. The beautiful Mehazabien is Amin's counterpart in the production directed by Sanjay Barua.

In an interview with the Dhaka Tribune the celebrity shares his ventures in the small screen and how he became active in TV.

Tell us why we should watch Jamai Dhora?

The play is a great combination of humour and social reality. It satires the common notion of considering expatriate bachelors as attractive suitors by parents in Bangladesh. There are many interesting dimensions in the play. It is close to my heart as I have chosen the title of the telefilm myself.

What are the other upcoming TV productions?

I recently completed two telefilms with Indian TV and film actress Reshmi Ghosh. The shoot of both the productions were done in Darjeeling and the whole experience was really enjoyable.

What made you think that you should also try in TV plays?

Nothing that serious. I am an actor and anything that offers me a good scope tempts me. TV productions give the film actors opportunities which are not often available in the film industry. Working in both the mediums is satisfying for an actor.

What do you look for while signing a project?

I always prefer working with new talents. Be it a director, producer or co-actress, the new comers dare to take risks and that is what I like most about them. To establish themselves in the industry they give their full effort and it is always good to work with dedicated people. I am the first hero of countless new heroines and directors and I am proud of it.

Your favourite TV plays till date?

I never occupy myself with too many projects at a time. Every production I work in, I try to deliver my best. So all of them are my favourite.
