More than 70% of Tuba Group workers have refrained themselves from receiving partial dues offered by the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA).
Only 343, out of 1,458 workers, received the partial dues from the BGMEA.BGMEA, the apex of garment manufacturers in Bangladesh, has decided to continue the payment till 9pm.
BGMEA President Atiqul Islam informed the media at a press briefing held at the BGMEA building in the capital.
He said: "A total of 343 workers have been paid their due wages and we hope the rest of them will collect the due payments till 9pm."
BGMEA officials started distributing the dues of Tuba workers from 10am.
At least 1,200 workers from five factories under the Tuba Group have been on a hunger strike for ten consecutive days at Hossain Market in the capital’s Badda area, demanding the payment of three months’ wages, overtime and Eid bonuses.
