Ananta Jalil and Barsha win CJFB Performance Award

Dashing ruler of Dhallywood, Ananta Jalil and his heroine Barsha won the Best Actor and Best Actress awards respectively in the 14th CJFB (Cultural Journalists’ Forum of Bangladesh) Performance Award 2012. Both the actors won the awards for their performances in the movie Most Welcome, which also acquired the Best Film Award. Redwan Rony won the award of Best Director for Chorabali.

The event was held on April 8 at the Hall of Fame of Bangabandhu International Conference Center.

The award for best singer of the year went to Habib (male) and Nancy (female). Best Music Director Award was bagged by Prince Mahmud and Best Lyricist went to Jahid Akbar.

Celebrated cultural personality and actor Suborna Mustafa was bestowed with the Lifetime Achievement Award. URO-CJFB Special Honour was presented to Nagar Baul James for his contribution to the Bangladeshi music industry. Among the other special awards, Ferdous Wahid was honoured for his significant addition to the pop music arena of Bangladesh. Journalist Iqbal Karim Nishan and Hasan Ahmed Chowdhry Kiron got the award for their bestowal towards the cultural arena.

For small screen, the Best Actor Award went to none other than the popular and much loved Sajal, whereas Nowshin won in the category of Best Actress. Jakaria Shoukhin won the Best Director of Small Screen, while Chayanika Chowdhry won the award for directing best single episode plays and Masud Sezan for drama series. Newcomer model Faria won the award for Best Populer Artist of Television. Shokh and Mehajabien won the Best Model of The Year while Mahfuz Ahmed won the Best Advertisement Director.

The programme was hosted by popular small screen actor Sajal and Dhallywood actor Romana .  The opening performance of the award ceremony was presented by the dynamic duo Ananta Jalil and Borsha. The charming performance came to a halt then Ananta Jalil got injured while performing a fire stunt. However, the action hero resumed his presentation and apologised for the mishap.

Multi-talented actor Tareen performed to a song titled Akash Debo Kake, which entertained a houseful audience. Habib, Nancy, Balam, Belal Khan, Suhana Dewan and Salma performed with style and pazazz. Bold beauties of Dhallywood, Peya and Airin presented two dance numbers which received audience applaud. Popular small and silver screen actresses including Shokh, Mehajabien, Eshana, Moushumy Hamid, Sporshia and many others performed several dance numbers.

Minister of Information Ministry Hasanul Haq Inu was present as chief guest while Chairman of Globe Soft Drinks Ltd Harunur Rashid, Managing director of Ittefaq Holdings Ltd Arshad Hossain and Chairman of Al-Hassan Diamond Gallery Ltd Khabir Uddin was present as special guests at the award programme.
