Journalist Fazal Shahabuddin dies

Noted journalist and poet Fazal Shahabuddin passed away at his Khilgaon residence on Sunday morning. He was 78.

Shahabuddin had been suffering from old-age complications.

He left behind his wife, two sons, a daughter and a host of relatives to mourn his death.

The first Namaz-e-janaza of the deceased was held on Bashabo playground in the afternoon.

He will be buried at Banani graveyard this evening.

Journalist Fazal received Ekushey Padak, Bangla Academy Padak and many national and international awards for his outstanding contributions.

He was born in Dhaka in 1936.

Poet Fazal was founder editor of the weekly “Bichitra” and published Binodon magazine in 1964.

He worked in the Dainik Pakistan and the Bangladesh Observer.

Earlier, he also worked at the Bangladesh Postal Department.
