US Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs Nisha Desai Biswal arrived here on Saturday on her first bilateral visit to Bangladesh.
She arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 12:30pm.
Officials at the US Embassy in Dhaka received her at the airport. Later, she drove straight to US Ambassador Dan Mozena’s residence, reports UNB.
During her stay in Dhaka, she will discuss shared global, regional, and bilateral priorities with Bangladesh government, opposition, labour, and civil society leaders.
She will meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Sunday night.
Biswal is also scheduled to meet Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni and Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque.
She will leave Dhaka on Monday night.
