Three leading trade bodies of the country on Wednesday formed a trust to conduct research on policies, practices and regulations affecting business in Bangladesh.
Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) and Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) jointly formed the BUILD (Business Initiative Leading Development) Trust. Presidents of the chambers signed a trust deed at a function in Dhaka, said a press release.
BUILD is now an independent institution to continue its efforts as a research-backed public-private dialogue (PPD) platform.
Business Initiative Leading Development (BUILD), since its inception in October 2011, has been working proactively with the private sector and government of Bangladesh with the objective of developing recommendations and advocating for their reform.
BUILD receives technical assistance from the Bangladesh Investment Climate Fund (BICF) managed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in partnership with the UK Government and the European Union (EU).
Representatives and dignitaries from partner organizations, including past presidents of DCCI and MCCI, directors of the three chambers, Managing Director of SME Foundation and Chairman, BUILD were present on the occasion.
