Communications Minister Obaidul Quader said he did not think the restriction on rallies in the capital would affect dialogues between the parties.
He made the comment while speaking to media at his office on Sunday.
“I have heard that the ban has been imposed for public safety. I don’t think it will affect dialogues,” he said.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police imposed a ban on rallies from Sunday morning, to remain effective until further notice.
The reason given was that opposing factions had called for rallies in the capital which might instigate violence.
