The ruling Awami League On Tuesday said the conviction of BNP Standing Committee member Salauddin Quader Chowdhury proved that the main opposition party was a party of war criminals.
“Former president Ziaur Rahman reinstated the war criminals in the country’s politics and his wife Khaleda Zia has patronised them and rewarded them with the national flag,” said Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahabub-Ul-Alam Hanif.
Conveying the ruling party’s reaction to the verdict at his Karwan Bazar office, Hanif welcomed the verdict and said it “fulfilled people’s expectations” and had also established the rule of law.
Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu and State Minister for Law Quamrul Islam also expressed satisfaction at the verdict, saying the government was pleased with the verdict, which would help ensure the rule of law in the country.
