IBFB urges political parties to prepare economic manifesto

A trade body, International Business Forum of Bangladesh (IBFB), has urged the country’s political parties to prepare their economic manifesto for the upcoming 10th parliamentary election.

The body has urged the parties to focus on social, cultural and economic development in their electoral pledges so that people and the businessmen can easily select their candidates and cast vote, according to a press release.

The trade body, in its statement, had recommended some issues to be included in the electoral pledges, which were developing the law and order situation, confirming political stability, maintaining the continuation of ongoing development activities, good governance and corruption free society, development in power sector, reformation in banking and finance sector, development of Chittagong and Mongla sea port, building the much expected Padma Bridge and empowering the Board of Investment.

The recommendations also included ensuring duty free trade, opening trade opportunities with African and Middle Eastern countries, enacting framing policies for public private partnership (PPP), strengthening Local Government and giving recognition to the contribution of businessmen.
