Jamal Bhuiyan, the first non-resident Bangladeshi to play for Bangladesh, was the pick of the team in the 0-2 defeat against Nepal at the Dasharath Stadium in Nepal yesterday.
Jamal did his best to inspire the team as he carried out his defensive role while trying to communicate to the players upfront as well. He seemed to have the stamina to run non-stop for 90 minutes and never paused for breath in the game.
The defender even had a crack at scoring, but his shot took a deflected off a Nepalese defender and went for a corner.
Jamal’s approach and attitude to the game was laudable and his effort could well inspire his teammates to raising their own standard.
