Attorney General Mahbubey Alam yesterday said labelling the recovery of Arafat Rahman Koko’s laundered money as a drama was tantamount to contempt of court as all legal processes were maintained to bring back the money.
At a press conference on Wednesday, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the recovery had been a “drama aimed at insulting the Zia family.”
The attorney general said Tk70.4m had been brought back from a Singapore bank maintaining all legal processes on the basis of court verdicts in Bangladesh and Singapore.
He said the ACC could sue Fakhrul for his comment, which he termed “a flattery to the Zia Family.”
