Update : 28 Aug 2013, 07:08 PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday said her government had a plan to form a permanent Pay Commission for recommending raise of salaries and allowances of the government officials and employees.

“We have a plan to form a permanent pay commission so that increase of salaries and allowances is done regularly considering the inflation,” she said while addressing a function after inaugurating the newly-built 150-bed government employees’ hospital at Phulbaria in the city, reports UNB.

Department of Housing and Public Works implemented the project at a cost of Tk468m.

She said the newly-built hospital, having the foundation of 16-storey, was primarily built to four-storey. The government has a plan to turn this into a medical college with 300-bed hospital alongside introduction of different departments.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr AFM Ruhul Haque, Prime Minister’s Adviser HT Imam and Public Administration Senior Secretary Abdus Sobhan Shikder also spoke at the function chaired by Cabinet Secretary M Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan.

She thanked the government officials and employees on achieving 96% progress in the implementation of the Annual Development Programme (ADP) in the last fiscal year as well as up to 99.7% implementation of cabinet decisions.

The premier mentioned that her government worked with the mentality of serving people. Many works still remained incomplete, she said, expressing her strong resolve to complete those if her party assumed office again.

Besides, she said, some 166 non-cadre officials were also given promotions to the posts of Assistant Secretary while the process for promotion in all posts would continue as part of the government’s bid to materialise a dynamic administration.
