The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC)wednesday lodged two more petitions with the High Court challenging the legality of the bail granted to Hall-Mark
Group Chairman Jasmine Islam in two cases filed on charges of swindling Tk4.28bn.
On August 4, a lower court passed the bail order on condition that the defendant would pay Tk1bn every month in 11 money laundering cases filed with the capital’s Ramna police station by the ACC. On Tuesday, ACC filed a petition questioning the bail order.
ACC Counsel Khurshid Alam Khan told the Dhaka Tribune that three petitions for three cases had been filed. Eight other separate petitions would be lodged on August 18. The ACC would move to a High Court vacation bench on August 19, the lawyer said.
