German expatriate footballer arrives today

Update : 17 Jul 2013, 05:31 PM

Reasat Khaton from Germany, an expatriate who was included in Bangladesh’s 35-man preliminary squad, will finally arrive in Dhaka today at 5:40pm.

The midfielder, however, has been excluded from the revised 26-man squad after failing to join the camp, which began on July 1. The 24-year-old had previously been scheduled to come to Dhaka on May 20 after being included in the squad for UK friendly matches, which were later suspended.

Reasat, who is a youth product of SC Freiburg, currently plays for German 4th division club VB Cloppenburg. The right-footed midfielder has also played for KSV Hessen Kassel, FSC Lohfelden, FC Schwalmstadt during his career.

National coach Lodewijk de Kruif hinted that Reasat could still make it into the final squad after the national teams match against Team BJMC yesterday.

“Every day I see good things, every day I see things we can improve, that is why the group is still 26. One player is coming from Germany tomorrow (Thursday). Very happy with that. I want to see him, I want to test him, because we need all the quality we can get,” said Kruif.

De Kruif has been in contact with Reasat, and explained that the player’s delay in arriving because he had been dealing with some family problems in Germany
