158 examinees to be expelled for adopting unfair means in public examinations

Barisal Education Board (BEB) will take stern actions against 158 examinees for adopting unfair means in public examinations under BEB this year

The decision came at a meeting held yesterday at the BEB conference room presided by BEB Chairman Professor Dr Bimal Krishna Majumdar.

As per decision of the disciplinary committee, the convicts would be expelled for a span of one to four years from attending any public examination and, two JSC examination centers will be ordered to show-cause for their negligence in duties.

The 158 convicts include 45 Junior Secondary Certificate (JSC), 17 Secondary School Certificate (SSC), and 96 Higher Secondary School Certificate examinees under BEB, said Arun Chandra Gayen, deputy controller of examinations.

Detailing over the decisions, Prof Enayet Hossain, Principal, Government Women’s College Barisal and Disciplinary Committee Member, BEB, said, four of JSC examinees would be expelled for two years while 41 of them will be expelled for one year. All the convicted SSC examinees would be expelled for one year and among the HSC examinees, three would be expelled for four years, 19 for two years and rest of the 74 for one year.

Those who not only adopted unfair means, but also, their transcripts were found to be written by more than one person and supplied from outside, will be expelled for 2-4 years, he explained.

Those who will be expelled for one year, can attend the examination next year.

Eight HSC examinees are still under investigation while five examinees of the three categories have been acquitted, BEB officials told.

The BEB disciplinary committee decided to issue show-cause letters to the teachers and authorities of Shashivushan School in Bhola and Rajapur School in Jhalakathi as anomalies were found in the number of transcripts supplied and returned from there.
