Ramadan vacation in schools from July 14

Update : 11 Jul 2013, 01:09 PM

Revoking its earlier decision to cut Ramadan vacations short, the government on Thursday said schools and colleges across the country will go on Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr vacations from July 14.

“All of the country’s schools and colleges will remain closed from July 14 to August 12 on the occasion of Ramadan, Jum’a-tul-wida, Shab-e-Qadr and Eid-ul-Fitr,” said an education ministry notification.

It said the decision has been made considering the overall situation at present, including traffic congestion in the capital and other metropolitan cities, reports UNB.

On Tuesday, the government had decided to start the vacation from July 27, intending to cut it short with a view to make up for hindrances in academic activity caused by political agitations such as hartals.
