Channel 24 and RTV swept into the final of the Kool-BSJA Media Cup Football after beating their respective semi-final opponents on the artificial turf of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) yesterday.
The final will be held at the same venue today at 10am Former national football star and BFF president Kazi Salahuddin is expected to be present as chief guest.
In the first semifinal held yesterday, Channel 24 defeated Channel I 3-0 in a tiebreaker after the stipulated time ended goalless. Channel 24 goalkeeper Hiron Khan was named the man of the match for saving two penalties in the shootout. The other semifinal of the day also ended goalless and RTV edged Daily Star 5-4 on penalties. Anwar Hoque, the goalkeeper of the winning team, saved one penalty and was adjudged man of the match.
Chief guest former national star Ashrafuddin Ahmed Chunnu gave away prizes at the end of the matches.
After the final today, Bangladesh Sports Journalists’ Association will play a friendly match against BFF Eleven on the astro-turf. Renowned former footballers, who are currently in the BFF executive committee, will play for BFF eleven.
